As a Master Electrician, Judy Kozolanka-Viens was responsible for apprenticeship training and for running a job crew on-site. She had to perform heavy labour such as climbing ladders and using power and hand tools, so after being in a tragic car accident and sustaining horrible injuries to her head, neck, shoulder, arm, back, and leg, she was rendered unable to continue on this career path.

Judy had to learn how to read and write again, and she has had to undergo many hours of occupational therapy and other programs to get where she is today - and today is what matters.

Today Judy is pursuing a new career path as an entrepreneur of J. Be Koz Recycled Jean Products - recycling gently used jeans, some donated, into wonderful jean products such as purses, pillows, aprons, wheelchair bags, diaper bags, shoe and boot bags, grocery bags, yoga mat bags, beach bags, and many other innovative products. What better way to protect the environment by keeping those old jeans out of the landfills? Basic alterations and mending to regular and specialty clothing is also available.

Judy's unique creations stemmed from her desire to work her way back to being more self-sufficient. Having been a seamstress many years ago, she thought that sewing again may help her strengthen her hand skills, so she began making purses and bags from old jeans that were no longer worn for family and friends, and before she knew it, people started asking about them - this is how J. Be Koz Recycled Jean Products was born.

Judy is a single mother of two, now grown, children - Chelsie, 23, and Codie, 22 - who have played a tremendous and crucial role in helping Judy through her challenging times. Judy has also always had a strong support system within her family. She has a very close relationship with her mother and her four siblings - all of whom were there for her after her accident and throughout her journey to recovery - and they all still enjoy getting together often for family outings and dinners.

Since recently starting this business, Judy's brilliant creations have been featured in craft shows in the Windsor-Essex County area. Although she doesn't employee any extra help at this time, Judy has been blessed with the help and support of her family and friends who all volunteer their services to her freely.

Becoming a Master Electrician was difficult to accomplish, but finding a way to overcome her health issues and getting back to using her other skills has been even harder. But Judy never surrendered to the obstacles that life threw her way. She likes feeling useful and independent, and she wants to use this opportunity to show her children that "you can come back from hard times and work through the challenges in this busy and crazy world" no matter what obstacles life presents.

Judy has been able to realize that her accident was not an end, but a new beginning to another chapter of her life. She is happy to be able to bring you J. Be Koz Recycled Jean Products, and she embraces this new venture with a passion.
