A Message from the Publisher...

As a mother of three young children, a wife, and a woman, I understand the challenges that you face every day. I know that whether a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a student - or any combination thereof - a woman's work is never done. The expectations alone can be overwhelming at times, and as someone in your shoes, I feel that Women In Business Magazine can help you know that you are not alone.

We have all traveled our journey through life, and although our paths have been very different, our challenges and struggles have been very much the same.

I have been faced with loss, sorrow, frustration, and despair - but I have been blessed by these hardships because from every experience comes a valuable lesson. I have learned love, happiness, forgiveness, and hope. I've learned appreciation and I know never to take things for granted. I cherish every minute of every day, and I recognize the preciousness of others.

Someone once told me "Treat everyone you meet as though their heart was breaking." These words have stayed with me, and I have adopted this philosophy as a way of life. The way that driver reacted because you were only doing the speed limit in front of him when he was clearly in a rush or the way that woman shoved past you rudely in the grocery store is not because of you. They were clearly just upset - at what, who knows? (Maybe their heart was breaking). But rather than shouting back or returning the discourtesy, smiling at them politely may just brighten up their mood - and it will also make you feel better than allowing it to get to you.

I know you've heard this a million times, but life really is what you make of it. It is so easy to get caught up in the obstacles that are going on in our life that we completely disregard the good that is still surrounding us. Sometimes life gets so chaotic and trying, and it feels like you're traveling down a dead-end road... so find an alley.

Know that you can accomplish anything that you put your mind to. No dream is out of reach, but you have to have confidence and know that you can achieve great things. Always remember that you are beautiful, brilliant, and strong, and know that you are unstoppable! But just as importantly, learn to ask for help - this isn't a weakness, it is the fuel to your strength.

Success means something different to everyone; but whether your definition is running a big corporation, starting your own business, finding steady employment, being the best parent you can be, keeping a good home, or losing that extra weight, surround yourself with positive people who will support you and who will help you on your own journey to success.

Consider Women In Business Magazine and our participants some of your supporters. Together we want to share our stories with you, so that you can see that we, too, have trudged through trials and tribulations along our own journeys - and will continue to - but that we keep on, never breaking our stride. We feel that our stories can help give you the strength and the motivation to continue to work toward your own personal successes, no matter what they are.

Don't ever give up - you never know how close you are to the good fortune that awaits you. Whatever hardships life throws your way are a blessing in disguise - these experiences are what help you grow and what make you stronger. They also teach you to recognize and cherish the good that you already have - and there is always good... Sometimes you just have to look harder to see it.

Believe in yourself and great things will happen!

RESTAURANT GUIDE:

This one-page feature is found at the end of the publication and its layout is similar to that of "A New You", but the advertising spaces are 2.5" x 1.5" in size - displaying up to eight advertising businesses.

Advertising restaurants have the benefit of reaching our readers while they are out and about for the day whether they're attending appointments or running errands, and they will also benefit by having a high retention in the minds of consumers because this feature is positioned on the last page of the magazine. It will be the last thing our readers see before they head out to continue their running around.
